Focus: Meal preparation and cooking

This module has been written to assist with the development of meal preparation and cooking skills for learners with a range of learning needs. It comprises 12 sections:

Hygiene
Health and safety
Food storage

Preparing a cold drink
Making a hot drink
Preparing a cold snack
Making a hot snack
Convenience food
Serving and clearing away

Employability Skills Development

The Employability Skills Development course takes an activity-based approach to raising learners’ awareness about employer expectations and the working environment. The activities are split into 12 sections:

Self management
Team working
Business and enterprise
Customer awareness
Problem solving
Communication
Working with numbers
IT in the workplace
Applying for a Job
Exploring job opportunities
Rights and responsibility at work
Health and safety in the workplace

Focus: Independent living

This module has been written to assist with the development of independent living skills and independence for learners with a range of learning needs. It comprises nine sections:

Making breakfast
Making a hot drink
Making a packed lunch
Making a main meal (lunch/dinner)
Cleaning
Using a washing machine
Using a tumble dryer
Ironing
Optional project

Focus: Numeracy (progression)

This module has been written to assist with the development of numeracy skills for learners with a range of learning needs. It comprises 14 sections, grouped under the following headings:

Number
Measure, shape, space
Position, pattern, sorting
Time
Handling data

Focus: Money

This module has been written to assist with the development of money skills for learners with a range of learning needs. It comprises six sections:

Recognising money
Looking after your money
Buying something regularly
Using a shop
Using a café

Focus: Communication (progression)

The Communication progression module has been written for learners with a range of learning needs, who are developing skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing.

Raising Aspirations: Awareness of the Working World

Each module focuses on a different Preparing for Adulthood pathway. Modules can be undertaken separately and built into a profile of achievement. For each module learners complete activities and gather evidence to demonstrate their progress and skill development. Comprises of the following units:
